The GM2100G-1A9, also known collectively as the CasiOak, features that instantly recognisable aesthetic that the model lineage has become so well known for. It has a stainless steel case with a polished ion-plated gold overlay, a black dial and a matching black resin band. You’ve got all of the standard-issue time-keeping features like the other CasiOak models, too. This includes a world time indicator able to display the time in 31 different cities, a 1/100th of a second chronograph, up to five daily alarms, a countdown timer, a completely automatic calendar capable of tracking the date up until 2099, as well as the tried-and-true durability of all G-SHOCKS. I love how the gold case, bezel and hands look against the dark vertically brushed dial. It just seems to be such a harmonious and congruent display of functionality, style and luxury. The benefit here is obviously the fact that these models won’t necessarily break the bank, making it a fairly affordable way to wear something that looks far more expensive than it actually is.
My pick of the five would definitely be the GM2100G-1A9. I just find its gold and black theme suits the shape of the watch and would look awesome with just about anything I wear, bar a complete suit and tie affair. It’s a casual watch that looks ultra-lux, has actual real-world applicability and practicality, won’t burn too large a hole in your pocket and has that now cult-classic look.
