The full metal CasiOak makes a return to the centre stage with this stunning Gold IP plated model. Featuring strong finishings and great contrast in the dial, this timepiece flexes it’s flashiness while not compromising on quality.

The Gold CasiOak GMB2100GD-9 is the fourth addition to the GMB2100 line-up, and let me tell you, every model is equally shiny. We’ve previously reviewed the other three metal CasiOak watches, so check those out too when you get a chance.

Overview:

Case and Dial

Utilising the now iconic CasiOak octagonal case shape, G-shock have crafted what I would consider one of their best looking watches, here in this model specifically.

Maybe I’m a little bit biased towards to the black and gold theme, but you can’t ignore the great contrast in the black dial with these gold hands. And that even extends into the inverted LCD display.

There's a solar receptor in this dial somewhere but honestly it isn’t easy to see, and that is a good thing! Well done G-Shock for hiding what could have been an eye-sore. At 9 o'clock you’ll find a multi-function wheel which includes some nice texture.

But, it’s around the bezel and case where texture really shines. A circular brushed finish is found on the bezel and some vertical brushed finishes can be seen around the side of the case here. I find these subtle finishes to really accentuate the material used on this G-Shock watch and offer some great visuals from up close and afar.

Specifications

Basic specs include measurements of 49.8mm lug to lug, 44.4mm diameter and 12.8mm thick. The weight clocks in at 165g, which is no surprise considering the entire watch is made of stainless steel, including the one touch three fold clasp.

A 20BAR water resistance is ensured, and of course it’s shock resistant. Smartphone link is possible via Bluetooth which offers handy features such as automatic time zone adjustments and even a find my phone feature.

A mineral glass tops the face and those hands include some Neobrite, not as bright as a Seiko diver but definitely not bad.

Other features include all your basic Casio timers, auto calendar, alarms etc. A bright light is included as well.

The Battery life on these CasiOak solar models is fantastic. They hold seven whole months when fully charged and 18 months in storage when the power save function is turned on. And it will be fairly accurate too with plus or minus 15 seconds a month in terms of accuracy.

Final Thoughts

So overall, this G-Shock is a well rounded model in terms of reliability and build quality. Day-to-day wear of this full metal gold CasiOak is going to be a little more difficult compared to its resin-cased siblings, but I could definitely see this being a great weekend watch, considering it’s boisterous nature.

A great pick up if you're a fan of the GM2100 series, or after a new gold watch to show off. Be sure to check out our full range of G-Shock metal watches online at Watch Depot.
