For their price point, Seiko Presage watches are some of the best dress watches around. And, like most Seiko watch lines, there’s a lot of variation and character in each of the designs.
Even in our newest SSA453J, SRPH93J, and SRPH95J Seiko Presage Style 60's models, you’ll find dramatic stylistic differences. Although, many of the key callbacks to the legendary Seiko Crown chronograph are shared amongst the three.

The Story Of Seiko Presage Style 60's
When Seiko announced their Style 60's range in 2021, they cited the 1964 Seiko Crown chronograph as their inspiration. That was met with a little confusion, which is understandable, because these watches are not chronographs.
In fact, the original Seiko chronograph watch didn’t feature a date or 24-hour function that have shown up on recent Style 60's either. Seiko often draws from their classic models for inspiration, but few new lines stray so far from the reference material.
Even with a considerably different functionality, you can see why Seiko have picked the Crown chronograph as inspiration for these new Seiko Presage watches. The striped indices, thin round bezel, and domed glass are perfect for the Japanese brand’s dress range.
The Style 60's contrast the previous 'Cocktail Time' Presage watch collection nicely, offering a sporty, crisp look in place of the beautifully detailed dial design. Both look absolutely gorgeous on a night out, and both will keep you happy long after purchase.
Seiko Presage SSA453J Open Heart
The first of our three new automatic watches is the Seiko Presage SSA453J. There’s a lot to like about this watch, including its calibre 4R39 automatic movement which can be seen from a stunning open heart. Along with the smooth hand motion, you’ll find yourself staring at this movement often.
This Seiko Style 60's model is dressed in dark-teal, with a brown synthetic leather strap for a nice, natural contrast. Many of the dial and bezel conventions return from the Crown chronograph, which gives this leather watch some vintage appeal.
Seiko have chosen a dark steel for the dial accents to match the stainless steel case and temper some of that vibrant blue. Speaking of, the sunray pattern was a good choice for this watch face, and it looks amazing under light.

Seiko Presage SRPH93J Style 60's
Like the Crown chronograph before it, the Seiko Style 60’s SRPH93J has a cream coloured dial, with a textured ring passing through the number indicators. Aside from the date window, this watch face is a dead ringer of the original.
The biggest point of difference between this timepiece and the other Style 60’s is the maroon bezel. It’s an interesting colour combination that works — cream and maroon.
A brushed finish is given to the stainless steel case and bracelet, which is the only metal band of our three new arrivals. Even for a stainless steel watch, this is not bulky. The 40.8mm case is solid, but not near the level of recent Seiko diving watches in terms of size.
This is a great dress watch, and one that will get a lot of use thanks to a steel frame and Hardlex glass finish.

Seiko Presage SRPH95J Black Style 60’s
Going for an all-black look, the Seiko Style 60’s SRPH95J is a captivating design. It’s the sportiest of the three new Seiko Presage watches, and super versatile as a fashion piece. Of course, the textured leather strap brings this watch back into the dress category.
Silver tone hands and indices create a high-contrast watch face with great visibility. The shaped glass can occasionally distort the edges, but when viewed straight-on there’s no issues there. Interestingly, this is the only Style 60’s arrival that doesn’t have the ringed dial texture.
The bezel is marked with gold highlights, although they are very subtle. Seiko's use of black ion plating gives the steel a deep colour that looks fantastic in-person. This is definitely a great choice if you want a dress watch that fits your casual wear, and is one of our new favourites at Watch Depot.
