Baby Tuna Doo doo doo doo!The SNE535P is, for all intents and purposes, part of Seiko's long history of dive watches that look like a can of tuna thanks to the unique shroud around the case. This "street style" version, which was initially an online-only offering from Seiko, continues that heritage in a smaller form factor and in a series of fun and striking colourways.
The green colourway is actually much darker in person than in the images online. However, this isn't an issue as the dark green provides an almost stealth-like appearance to the watch.
Despite the size - almost 47mm diameter and almost 13mm thick, the stainless steel and included rubber strap mean the watch wears a lot lighter than you would think leading to a comfortable wearing experience, while the strap is soft, supple, and compliments the watch really well.
This is my first solar movement after too many years as an automatic movement snob, and I have to say that not having to adjust and wind each morning is a Godsend! As a Seiko, and part of the Prospex family, I imagine this particular piece will be in my collection for years to come and continue to "tick" along just fine. I have no concerns about Seiko's after service, or indeed that provided by watchdepot.com.au which has always been really helpful.
Lastly, a comment about price - you cannot go wrong with watchdepot.com.au, especially with Seiko. The prices are consistently well below those offered by Seiko, online retailers, and stores in the high street and malls like Westfield. Often I see discounts of AUD$200-300 on watchdepot.com.au and I'm a little sceptical. Having done the research, I can say this is the cheapest you will find this full-on, solar movement, 200m, legit dive watch anywhere.Posted on
