The History Of Bulova
Bulova was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova in New York City. He designed the brands watches in the USA and manufactured them in Switzerland.
Just as America was entering its golden age of industry and progress, Joseph Bulova saw an opportunity to make a mark.
And he certainly did that.
In the 1920s, Bulova single handily changed the face of marketing with the world’s very first radio advertisement.
Just 20 years later, the world’s first television commercial followed. The advertisement ''America runs on Bulova time'' aired on July 1, 1941, before a Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies baseball game.
In the 1950s they also made advancements in sports with the invention of the photo timer and they had a timer on board of the first moonwalk. Yep, there was a Bulova moon watch.
Bulova also developed the first fully electronic watch with proprietary tuning-fork based technology which, at the time, was the most accurate watch in the world.
However, the innovation didn’t stop there.
After Citizen purchased the company in 2008, Bulova developed the Precisionist – the worlds most accurate watch with a continuously sweeping second hand.
In 2016, they also introduced the world's first curved chronograph and in 2019 the first electrostatic concept movement called ‘Accutron’ was born.
It is these new technologies that have seen Bulova remain at the forefront of their craft for so long.
